Irish Wolfhound
The Irish Wolfhound is the largest dog known, being 31 inches tall in
the male, and it weighs 120 pounds. The
female is 28 inches tall, and weighs 90 pounds.
This breed gets its name from being believed to have cleared Ireland
of wolves. He’s another sight hound, and
is very gentle. He has the gentleness
that is essential for a family dog, but his size may not make him the best for
a family. He is a breed that can suffer
from bloat, and if he’s injured, he’ll be hard to move! He doesn’t need too much exercise, or
feeding, but it needs to be regular. If
you live in the countryside, he may be a good dog for you, but if you live as a
family, he may not be your best choice.
