Great Pyrenees

The Great Pyrenees is an elegant dog with unsurpassed beauty. His outer coat is long, weather resistant, and laying over a thicker, denser inner coat. The outer coat is usually colored white or white with markings of tan, gray, badger, or reddish brown. The males’ weight ranges from 27 inches to 32 inches, with a 27 inch male weighing about 100 pounds. The females’ heights vary from 25 to 29 inches tall, with a 25 inch female weighing about 85 pounds. The Great Pyrenees dogs were bred for guarding flocks on the slopes of the Pyrenees in all weather. Despite their defensive purpose, today’s Great Pyrenees dogs are gentle, affectionate and confident while guarding their family or flock territorially.
