Finnish Lapphund
The
Finnish Lapphund is a Spitz breed from Finland, one of the Nordic
countries. Its coat is fairly long,
needing grooming regularly, and it can be colored just about any color, with
lighter shades usually seen on its head, chest, legs, and the tip of its tail. Both
genders of this breed are 18-20 ½ inches tall in the qualified show dogs. They
also weigh 44-46 pounds. These dogs aren’t seen very often in the United States, since they rarely are seen
outside of their native Finland.
Originally, they were used to herd reindeer. Finnish Lapphunds make good
companions, and are calm yet intelligent.
