Black and Tan Coonhound
The
Black and Tan Coonhound was initially bred for trailing and hunting raccoons.
His black and tan coat is short, with the tan markings usually around his
chest, legs and head. The males are 25-27 inches tall at the shoulder; weight
restrictions no longer exist. The females should be 23-25 inches high at the
shoulder. In the American Kennel Club show ring, white markings on any part of
the body are considered faults. As working dogs, they should be able to work
easily with other dogs. Their temperament is outgoing and friendly, without
aggression towards other people and dogs.
