Basset
Hound
This
France-originated breed is the best known of the Basset group. He’s a cheerful breed, which denies the fact
that his expression is almost mournful.
He’s a heavy dog in a short body, you could say, He stands around 15
inches, with the female at 13. The male
weighs 50 pounds, and the female weighs 43.
This breed has certain problems, though, as well. The ears are so long, he steps on them, which
blocks the circulation of air into the ear canal. Also, his droopy lower eyelids can cause
problems. But no matter how many
problems he has, he’s a great companion, especially as a family member.
