Basenji

The Basenji is assumed to have come from Central Africa 300 years ago, although it may be originally from the Middle East.  He is a tidy dog, and has stiff ears that perk upright with sharp outlines.  His tail ends in a tight curl with a white tip at the end.  He has a permanent questioning expression, and poised to jump even while lying down, he appears restless.  He’s known for his strange bark, which is not really a bark but more of a yodel.  His coat is short and easy to groom, and has different colors of black and white, red and white, and occasionally three of the colors.  You may not seem to have to groom him, for he tends to room himself like a cat.  He is completely a household companion, although he may not be the most stylish on looks!
