INSTRUCTIONS: Back: **Beginning at lower edge with smaller needles and 1 strand each of main color and color A, cast on 52 (56, 59, 62) stitches. Work Garter Stitch for 9 rows, noting first row is wrong side and increasing 7 (9, 10, 11) stitches evenly across last row - 59 (65, 69, 73) stitches. Break the strand of color A and tie off. Change to larger needles and work in pattern with only main color as follows: Row 1 (right side): Knit. Row 2 and alternating rows: Purl. Row 3: Knit 4 (3, 1, 3); *MK, knit 5. Repeat from * across, ending MK, knit 4 (3, 1, 3). Rows 5 and 7: Knit. Row 9: Knit 8 (7, 5, 7); *MK, knit 5. Repeat from * across, ending MK, knit 8 (7, 5, 7). Row 11: Knit. Row 12: Purl. These 12 rows form pattern. Continue in pattern until work from beginning measures approximately 6.5 (7, 8, 9) inches, ending with a wrong side row. Armhole shaping: Keeping continuation of pattern, bind off 3 (4, 5, 5) stitches at the beginning of next 2 rows - 53 (57, 59, 63) stitches. Next Row (right side): Knit 2, knit 2 together, pattern across, ending ssk, knit 2. Next Row: Purl. Repeat last 2 rows 3 (4, 4, 4) times more - 45 (47, 49, 53) stitches. ** Continue in pattern until piece measures approximately 10.25 (11, 12.5, 13.75) inches from beginning, ending with a wrong side row.
