Scarf with Pockets

The instructions are made for a scarf in blue, red, and gold. You can choose your own colors or just use one color. The pattern was oringinally for a pocket scarf and hat set, but I split them into two seperate projects. (If you want to find the other hat, it is called the Tasseled Hat)Now that I have done that, I can't get an accurate measurement of how many yarns of yarn you need for each separate project. For the five-color set, you will need 280 yards of gold yarn, and 70 yarns of yarn of purple, pink, green, and teal. You should also use a pair of size 10 needles. Cast on 27 stitches with the gold yarn. Work in garter stitch until your piece measures about 50 inches long. Bind off, then cut a 6 inch tail. To make the first pocket, cast on 19 stitches in the red yarn and work in garter stitch until it's about 6 inches long. Bind off, and cut the tail to be 3 inches long. For the second pocket, cast on 19 stitches of the blue yarn, and work in garter stitch until it's exactly the same size as the other pocket. Sew three sides of your pocket on, with the open end at the top, about 1 inch from the end. Do the same with the other pocket at the other end of the scarf. Make sure that the open end of your pockets are facing each other when you lay it out flat. Your main color will take about 280 yards of yarn, and the pocket colors will take about 70.
