The Oh-So-Hip Scarves come in three variation: the fringed scarf, the checked scarf, and the variegated scarf. Now, here are the patterns. FRINGED SCARF: You will need 50 grams per ball, and 6 balls of Purple/Eggplant/Multi, size 13 knitting needles, and a size 1/9 (5.55 mm) crochet hook. Cast on 13 stitches onto straight needles. Row 1 (wrong side): Knit 3, Purl 7, Knit 3. Row 2: Knit all the way across. Rows 3-14: Repeat rows 1 and 2. Row 15 (Purl or Wrong Side row): Knit. (This should create a knit ridge in the scarf) Row 16: Knit. Repeat rows 1-16 until piece measures approxamately 60" long, ending with a repeat of Row 14. Bind off. For the fringe: Cut two strands of yarn measuring 11" long. Fold in half to form a loop. With the purl side of the scarf facing you and a crochet hook, take the loop through the first stitch at the lower edge. Take ends through loop and pull to tighten. Add fringe evenly around the entire scarf, including the sides. CHECKED SCARF: For this scarf variation, you will need 180 yards of Khaki 124 for color A and 120 yards of Grass 130 for color B. You will also need size 10 1/2 straight knitting needles, and a size K/10 1/2 (6.5 mm) crochet hook. Instructions: With color A, cast on 25 stitches. Work the following pattern between the astericks until the scarf measures 57" from the beginning, ending with a Row 1 or Row 5.*Row 1 (purl): With color A, knit 1 stitch, purl across, and knit the last stitch. Row 2: With color B, knit 1, slip 1, ^knit 1, slip 3; repeat from ^ across, ending knit 1, slip 1, knit 1. Row 3: With color B, knit 1, ^purl 3, slip 1; repeat from ^ across, ending with purl 3, knit 1. Row 4: With color A, knit 2; ^slip 1, knit 3; repeat from ^ across, ending with slip 1, knit 2. Row 5: As row 1. Row 6: With color B, knit 1, ^slip 3, knit 1; repeat from ^ across. Row 7: With color B, knit 1, purl 1; ^slip 1, purl 3; repeat from ^ across, ending with slip 1, purl 1, knit 1. Row 8: With color A, knit 4; ^slip 1, knit 3; repeat from ^ across, ending with knit 1.* After you have finished this pattern to 57" ending with a Row 1 or Row 5 repeat, bind off all stitches. VARIEGATED SCARF: Use 308 yards of yarn, preferably in Lapis LAzuli (5862), and knit with size 11 needles. With two strands of yarn held together, cast on 20 stitches. Knit every row in garter stitch until the scarf measures aout 62" from the beginning, and bind off all stitches.
