INSTRUCTIONS: MITTEN (make two): With main color, cast on 30 stitches. *Leaving 8" tails when joining colors, with main color, purl 1 row, knit 1 row, purl 1 row. With contrasting color, knit 1 row. For Body Pattern, repeat from * for 6 total times. Purl 1 row with main color. Top Shaping: Row 1: Matintaining stripe pattern, (ssk, knit 11, knit 2 together) twice. Row 2: Purl 26. Row 3: (ssk, knit 9, knit 2 together) twice. Row 4: Purl 22. Row 5: (Knit 2 together) across. Row 6: Purl 11. Leaving a 12" tail, cut yarn. Thread into tapestry needle and back through remaining stitches, twice. FINISHING: Take all tails to outside. Matching stri;es, tie each of the 4 tails together in an overhand knot all along side edge. Trim to 1/2". With tail frm top, sew along side edge. Let lower edge roll naturally. CAP:Leaving a long tail, with main color, cast on 120 stitches. Row 1 and each following wrong side row: Purl 1 row. Row 2: Knit 28, knit 2 together, ssk, knit 56, knit 2 together, ssk, knit 28-116 stitches. Row 4: Knit 27, knit 2 together, ssk, knit 54, knit 2 together, ssk, knit 27-112 stitches. Row 6-19: Continues in Stockinette stitch on the 112 stitches using main color. Row 20: ith main color, knit 11, (knit 2 together, knit 20) 4 times, knit 2 together, knit 11 - 107 stitches. Note: When joining new color, leave 8" tails at side edges. Row 21: Purl 1 row with main color. Row 22: Knit with contrasting color. Row 23: Purl with main color. Row 24: Knit with main color. Row 25: Purl with main color. Row 26: Knit with contrasting color. Row 27: Purl with main color. Row 28: With main color, (knit 19, knit 2 together) 5 times; knit 2. Row 29: Purl 102 with main color. Rows 30-31: Repeat Rows 22-23. Row 32: With main color, (knit 18, knit 2 together) 5 times, knit 2. Row 33: With main color, purl 97. Rows 34-35: Repeat Rows 22-23. Row 36: ith main color, (knit 17, knit 2 together) 5 times, knit 2. Row 37: With main color, purl 92. Continue in 4-row stripe pattern, decreasing 5 stitches ecenly spaced on each main color knit row until 12 stitches remain. Next Row: Knit 2 together across. Purl 6. Cut yarn, leaving an 8" tail. Thread into tapestry needle and back through stitches. Draw up to close opening. Sew to first stripe row. FINISHING: Take all tails to outside. Matching stripes, tie each of the 4 tails together in an overhand knot all along side edge. With beginning tail at lower edge, joing main color rows up to first stripe. Let this portion form a natural roll. Pom-Pom: Wind contrasting color around a credit card 25 times; carefully remove card. Tie a seperate strand around center; tigthly. Cut ends. Trim and sew to tip of cap.
